Willunga is a beautiful tree lined village, full of charm and character, steeped in history and heritage with historical buildings found at every turn including churches, buildings and homes all providing a hint of the past. The Willunga Court House and Slate Museum tells a special story reflecting on Willunga’s past, noting the slate quarry is still in operation today.

Be inspired by the local artists showcasing their works in delightful galleries dotted along the main street, which are brimming with mosaics, glass, furniture and jewellery.  There are also op shops, bric-a-brac, boutiques and clothing stores all waiting to be discovered.

Home to the award winning Willunga Farmers Market, this is not to be missed. Held every Saturday morning from 8am with over 80 stall holders, this market is popular with visitors whether it’s rain, hail or shine. There is always a hive of activity, enticing shoppers with the promise of local produce that is fresh and sourced from some of the region’s best farmers and artisan producers. You are in for a treat.

There’s also great food at the many cafes, pubs, cake shop and acclaimed pizzerias. Indulge in a bakery treat, a chocolatier delicacy, great coffee or there are tap houses and cellar doors to choose from too.

Tranquility and beauty combine in Willunga’s parks and gardens, all close to the main street. They are particularly beautiful when the almond blossom trees are in full bloom during July each year.

If you love a hit of golf, there is an 18-hole golf course, complete with driving range, putting green, golf buggy hire and a pro- golf shop.  Or if just enjoying the outdoors is more your thing, explore one of the many walking trails, including the beginning (or end) of the Shiraz Trail, taking in the sights of Willunga to McLaren Vale.
