South Australia

Aldinga is one of South Australia’s and the Fleurieu Peninsula’s southern gems, it’s filled with a mix of coastal living, an eco-village, great holiday accommodation including caravan parks and village precincts that locals and visitors love. Aldinga and surrounds lets you discover Aldinga Township, Aldinga Beach and Port Willunga, where you will be greeted with an eclectic mix of shops, cafes and restaurants to enjoy, together with some of the best coastal views in the state.

A top pick to kick off your visit is the iconic village in Old Coach Road (Aldinga Township). Enjoy a delicious pie or pastry at Homegrain Bakery and then wander the streets and explore the fabulous street art, boutiques and cafes. Be sure to also visit the fashion house icon, Miss Gladys on Sea. A must see.

When it comes to seaside dining, there are some great spots to enjoy and soak up the sun and sea views. The Star of Greece restaurant is a food icon for the state and is nestled atop the cliffs at Port Willunga Beach. The glistening blue water, the sun-drenched cliffs combined with the ruins of the old Port Willunga Jetty certainly make this a wonderful spot to dine.

Aldinga Beach is also one of the most iconic beaches down south, it’s one of the few locations that you can drive right on to the sand, it doesn’t even need to be a 4WD, just be sure to stay on the firmer sand and watch for the rising tide! A beach pass can be purchased when you drive down the beach ramp onto the sand. Remember to pack the BBQ gear or picnic hamper otherwise keep a look out for mobile food vendors or pop into Pearl Restaurant near the ramp.

The water is the perfect spot for swimming, with the local Surf Life Saving Club patrolling the beach during the warmer months and the sand is ideal for building sandcastles! If you have the kids along for the journey and they like eye-spy, they can explore the nearby rock pools.

Aldinga also offers the perfect opportunity to engage with nature. From the Aldinga Scrub Conservation Park to thriving wetlands at the Aldinga Washpool, there is spectacular flora and fauna, as well as birdlife waiting to be discovered. Or you can enjoy a leisurely stroll along one of the stunning beaches or across the Coastal Cliff Walk that offers incredible views as you wander along the coastline.

So, what are you waiting for, Aldinga is calling!
