Just 40 minutes from Perth, Mundaring is a place where you can immerse yourself in nature. Visit the Perth Hills and walk or cycle some amazing trails, or take a scenic drive through national parks including John Forrest National Park. You can also enjoy the region’s arts, history and culture, or simply throw down the picnic blanket in a secluded spot.
Shire of Mundaring covers an area of 644sqkm, with one-third of its total area being state forest. Our villages are steeped in a rich history, closely linked by the old railway line that is now the Railway Reserves Heritage Trail. The amazing engineering feat that is the Mundaring Weir is a popular tourist destination andpicnic spot in the Perth Hills.
The Munda Biddi Trail is the longest off-road cycle trail of its kind in the world, covering more than 1000km from the trail head in Mundaring Community Sculpture Park to Albany in the South West.
There is a terrific variety of accommodation, award winning restaurants, country taverns, boutique wineries, arts, wildlife, plus a range of exciting events including the Mundaring Sunday Markets held on the second Sunday of each month. Mundaring shire is also home to beautiful Lake Leschenaultia, the Karakamia Wildlife Sanctuary and Perth Hills Discovery Centre.
