Oberon is a simply stunning small rural town known for the beauty of its farming, forest, lake and bushland landscapes and its four distinct seasons. Set on a high plateau a three-hour drive from Sydney and Canberra, Oberon is the highest town in the Greater Blue Mountains region. Located midway along the Tablelands Way tourist drive, Oberon is the closest town to the iconic Jenolan Caves and the world heritage Kanangra Boyd National Park providing breathtaking mountain and bushland views. Mayfield Garden, the largest privately owned cool climate garden in the southern hemisphere covers over 60 hectares, is open to visitors year round and is located a fifteen minute drive from the town centre.

Along with its rugged natural credentials, Oberon lays down the welcome mat with a vast selection of rural and adventure experiences including mushroom picking, trout fishing, truffle hunting, bush walking, horse riding, quad bike tours, 4WD driving, fossicking and kayaking on Lake Oberon. Superb accommodation and camping options are available to visitors, many of which offer the charm and ambiance of open wood fires during the cooler months. At an altitude of 1100 metres Oberon experiences occasional snow falls during winter.
